Terms of Service

Last updated: 10/5/2026

These terms govern use of DisTech, a school dismissal management service operated by Megatech Consulting Inc. ("Megatech", "we", "us"). By using DisTech, you agree to these terms.

What DisTech is

DisTech helps schools coordinate student pickup at the end of the school day. Schools maintain a roster of students and the adults authorized to collect them. Parents, guardians, and school-authorized drivers check in when they arrive. School staff manage a live pickup queue and record each release.

DisTech is a record-keeping and coordination tool. It supports the school's dismissal process; it does not replace it.

Who may use DisTech

DisTech is provided to schools under an agreement between the school and Megatech. Individuals — parents, guardians, authorized drivers, and school staff — use DisTech through the school that enrolled them.

Accounts are held by adults. Students do not have accounts and do not sign in. You must be 18 or older to hold a DisTech account.

Only the school decides who is authorized to collect a student. Megatech does not grant, verify, or revoke that authorization independently of the school.

Accounts and sign-in

DisTech verifies your identity with a one-time code sent to your email address or phone number. You choose which. Keep your account secure: do not share your sign-in codes with anyone, and tell your school promptly if you believe someone else has access to your account.

You are responsible for the accuracy of the contact details you provide.

School responsibilities

The school is responsible for:

  • the accuracy of its student roster and of the guardian relationships recorded in DisTech
  • deciding who is authorized to collect each student, and keeping those authorizations current
  • deciding which staff have access, and to what
  • verifying the identity of the adult collecting a child at the point of release
  • its own dismissal, safeguarding, and emergency procedures

DisTech records and coordinates pickups. It does not verify in person that the adult collecting a child is who they say they are. That judgment remains with school staff at the point of release.

Acceptable use

Do not:

  • attempt to access any account, student record, or school's data that is not yours
  • use DisTech to check in for, or attempt to collect, a student you are not authorized to collect
  • impersonate another person
  • interfere with the service, attempt to circumvent its security, or access it by automated means
  • use DisTech for any unlawful purpose

We may suspend access where we reasonably believe these terms have been breached, or where doing so is necessary to protect student safety.

Availability

We work to keep DisTech available and reliable, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted service. Networks fail, devices fail, and maintenance is sometimes necessary.

Schools should maintain a workable manual dismissal procedure for use if DisTech is unavailable. Dismissal is time-critical and must not depend on any single system.

Your data and privacy

How we collect, use, and share information is described in our Privacy Policy.

Each school's data is kept separate and is not visible to any other school using DisTech. Pickup and check-in records form part of the school's safety record and are retained as described in the Privacy Policy.

Information entered into DisTech about students, guardians, and staff belongs to the school. We process it on the school's behalf in order to operate the service.

Text messages

DisTech can send one-time sign-in codes, dismissal notifications, and driver authorization invitations by text message.

Receiving text messages is optional and is not a condition of using DisTech. Parents, guardians, and school staff choose between email and text at sign-in and may use email only. Consent to receive text messages is given separately, on the sign-in screen, and is not part of these terms. Full details are in our Text Messaging Policy.

Our intellectual property

DisTech, including its software, design, and documentation, is owned by Megatech Consulting Inc. These terms do not transfer any ownership. You may use DisTech only as described here.

Fees

Fees for a school's use of DisTech are set out in the agreement between that school and Megatech. Individual parents, guardians, drivers, and staff are not charged by Megatech for using DisTech. Your mobile carrier may charge for text messages or data.

Suspension and termination

A school may stop using DisTech under the terms of its agreement with us. We may suspend or end access where these terms are breached, where required by law, or where necessary to protect student safety.

When a person is removed from a school's roster, their access ends. Historical pickup records are retained as part of the school's safety record, as described in the Privacy Policy.

Disclaimer

DisTech is provided "as is". To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties not expressly stated here, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that DisTech will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure against every possible threat.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Megatech Consulting Inc. is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss of data, arising from use of DisTech. Our total liability arising out of or relating to DisTech will not exceed the amount paid to us by the relevant school for the service in the twelve months before the claim.

Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The date at the top shows when they last changed. Material changes will be communicated to schools. Continuing to use DisTech after a change means you accept the updated terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, without regard to its conflict of law rules. Any dispute will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Harris County, Texas.
